Everlasting Gifts

John 1:1

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Deity of Jesus Christ

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Word Made Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh, and [a]dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of [b]the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Eternal-walang hanggan(life of God)
Everlasting-araw araw nariyan. (love of God)
Temporal-(it is neither)

Jesus Christ according to the gospel of john
Beholding the glory of the son.
There are four gospel accounts
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John

1st 3 are synoptic gospels
Syn: Greek prefix for together
Optic from Greek Optikos - having to do with sight
Synoptic-seen together

Why is John's account not included in the synoptic
Different account
Many important events John does not include
Temptation transfiguration casting out of demons Lords prayer sermon on the mount beatitudes
But John has found in the synoptic

Matt starts with Abraham
Mark starts with actual ministry of Jesus Christ
Luke all the way to Adam
John points back to eternity past

The gospel of john was written in a non Jewish environment using non-Jewish concepts to make the gospel clear to all (Ephesus)

The gospel of john introduces majesty of Jesus Christ as the eternal being who came and entered this word in the event now we call the incarnation of the son of God.

In Jesus Christ, we see the intertwining of the eternal of the eternal and the temporal. What does this mean for us? What beneficial impact does that bring us.

3 everlasting gifts
1. Everlasting 'sonship' is now available to the elect. Born of God-born again. Anak pa rin tigin sayo ng diyos araw araw.
2. Everlasting presence is now available to the elect. That I why there is a grieving of the Holy Spirit. He is always with us but he grieves with what we do.
3. Everlasting grace and truth. Grace good gift I need so badly but I am not deserving but God still gives it. Grace will not allow you to be destroyed.
Hopeless and helpless must not be in our vocabulary.
