Has the Lord been satisfied?

Mark 14:1-9

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Death Plot and Anointing

14 Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him; for they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people.”
While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure [a]nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head. But some were indignantly remarking to one another, “Why has this perfume been wasted? For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred [b]denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her. But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me. She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial. Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”

Has the Lord been satisfied?
The way we lived our life for God.
How do we know?

1. Waste
Wasting ourself upon him. When people see you are wasting your life for Jesus Christ; you have not loved the world. Principle of wasting your life for Jesus. "if you love the world, then the love of God is not with you. " waste sa mata ng mundo but the Lord is satisfied. Understand the meaning of taking up your cross.
Concept of dying to self. Measure of the value of life.

2. Worship
'Surrenderness' of life. Breaking of the alabaster. Concept of Everything given to the Lord. May timing ang Diyos. Ever privileged woman who anointed the Lord before His death. Anything we hold on to=alabaster. Alabaster could be sin, idolatry, etc. talent, pride, career.

3. Witness
House full of sweet fragrance. Fragrance of the Lord cannot be released in your life. Effective witness. Spiritual sense of that fragrance knowing that you are Christian. Do not be like Jacob who runs away from the Lord. Touch others, create in them a sense of hunger for God. Preparing for the soil of preaching. You can also invite criticism, but it is part of life.

The church is the body of Christ

The church is the body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:12-26

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For [a]by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [b]any the less a part of the body.16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [c]any the less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, [d]it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we [e]deem less honorable, [f]on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, 24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25 so that there may be no [g]division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is [h]honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Romans 12:9-18

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love;[a]give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the [b]saints,[c]practicing hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute [d]you; bless and do not curse.15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but [e]associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. [f]Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

Ephesians 4:2-6

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

Central theme: God wants his people to be united in the church. Unity.

1 Corinthians 12:25

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Romans 12:16

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but [a]associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Ephesians 4:3

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Our role in the body of Christ is to preserve and foster unity.
Why is unity important. God's work can prosper without human interference.
We need to change some attitudes and exhibit some of the good.
Requires the transformation of our attitudes
Preserving unity trough attitudinal transformation

1. From conceit to descent
Men are naturally proud, we like to brag of our accomplishment. Special attention. Conceitedness does not promote unity.

Romans 12:3

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

Ephesians 4:2

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,

2. We have the same spirit. 1 cor 12:13b
3. We belong to each other.

1 Corinthians 12:15-16

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

4. Honoring the weak.

1 Corinthians 12:21-24

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”22 On the contrary, [a]it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we [b]deem less honorable, [c]on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable,24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked,

Let us take away our conceit, be humble towards other. For in doing so we help create harmony and foster unity...

2. From coldness to devotion. Coldness is apathy.

Romans 12:10

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with [c]liberality; he who [d]leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
2. Developing of gifts

Principles of biblical service

How does God develop a believer to be a servant?
What is God's requirement In approving our service to Him?
How do you know you are in the right calling?

Exodus 3:1-14

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Burning Bush

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the [a]west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of [b]bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “[c]I must turn aside now and see this[d]marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” When theLord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
The Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the [e]power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

The Mission of Moses

10 Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall [f]worship God at this mountain.”
13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “[g]I AM WHO[h]I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘[i]I AM has sent me to you.’”

It is the desire of he Lord for us to serve and build his kingdom.

1. Serving God requires removal of our own sandals.
Removal of impurities in life
1st requirement holiness.

David Made King over Judah

Then it came about afterwards that David inquired of theLord, saying, “Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” So David said, “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.” So David went up there, andhis two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the[a]widow of Nabal the Carmelite. And David brought up his men who were with him, each with his household; and they lived in the cities of Hebron. Then the men of Judah came and there anointed David king over the house of Judah.
And they told David, saying, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.” David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, “May you be blessed of theLord because you have [b]shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him. Now may the Lord [c]show lovingkindness and truth to you; and I also will [d]show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing. Now therefore, let your hands be strong and be [e]valiant; for Saul your lord is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.” The thanksgiving of David
